Julia Stamps-Mallon and Chris Mocko win weekend race

Defending champion Julia Stamps-Mallon of Santa Rosa and Chris Mocko of San Francisco were the victors in Saturday Wine County Half Marathon, which started in Geyserville and finished in Healdsburg. Each took home $400 each and a magnum of wine.

Mocko defeated Alex Wolf-Root of Santa Rosa, finishing in a time of 1:10:12.  Mallon finished with 1:20:40, with the top three women finishing within 17 seconds of one another.

About 2,500 runners from 48 states and seven foreign countries completed the Halloween and wine harvest themed race. Produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, it benefits Girls of the Run of Sonoma County, Sunshine Rotary Club of Healdsburg, Native Sons of the Golden West, and Maria Carrillo, Healdsburg, Elsie Allen, and Geyserville High School athletics programs.
